After seeing lots of TV adverts late at night/early in the morning, lots of reviews and a few recommendations I decided to try the INSANITY workout programme.  I was extremely sceptical, how different can push ups and star jumps on a workout DVD be?

I started my first session with max interval training (being sceptical I didn’t do the initial fitness test I just got straight into it), the first 10 minutes weren’t a walk in the park but I felt slightly disappointed at the intensity level; when I heard that I had just completed the WARM UP I was slightly concerned!  Next came some great stretches (and I’ve done years of traditional martial arts training and am used to stretching) followed by easily the most intense interval training that I can remember ever doing.

Training for approx 3-4 minutes at extremely high intensity with only a tiny break of seconds before getting straight back into it.  This programme is serious, anyone who completes this exercise programme will see results (as long as they don’t eat thousands of extra calories to make up for what has been burnt).  Please note that this is a completely independent review, we don’t stock the Insanity workout so have absolutely nothing to gain by telling you how great I think it is!

Shaun T who takes you through the programme is really motivational, even though you’re watching it on a television his intense, loud, motivating style pushes you further.  Personally, even though I know I’m in for an uncomfortable 45 minutes I find myself really looking forward to doing the programme.  After completing a week of this I can actually feel my calf muscles the next day which is nice!

Training fads come and go, Insanity training is in my opinion hear to stay (only for the hardcore though!).
